You will be
picked up from your accommodation at around 5.00 am and start making your way
first to Arco (on the route to Puno) Then we will continue to Pitumarca ( where
we stop to take some breakfast) and a number of small villages, till we reach
the community of Hanchipata-Quesuno 4,530msnm
(another 1 hours). From here we start our hike after in total 3 h drive.
You will experience how locals live in the mountains. We will be able to enjoy
the view of numerous mountains around, as well as of the Ausangate glacier. We
will be able to witness up close the local wildlife and camelids in their
natural environment. The trek lasts for about 3 to 3 ½ hours go and back, until
we get to the stunning landscape of Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountains).
Where we see
a spectacular geological formation and colors. We start our trek from 4530 m to
5020 m Cerro Colorado “vinicunca. As you get closer to the Rainbow Mountain you
will begin to see the first signs of the colored minerals that formed the
painted hills. Your guide will explain what makes up the existence of the
Rainbow Mountain. Here we will have about 1 hour to relax and take amazing
pictures of this natural wonder. Yo also can walk to the red colored mountains.
We hike back to the starting point , and we drive 1 h to take lunch at the
local restaurant, and from there return to Cusco (arriving at
approximately between 18 and 18.30 h).
