Kuelap is a ruin in the Chachapoyasregionof Peru that is matched in size and grandeur only by Machu Picchu, except it is far less frequently visited by tourists. The ruin is the biggest site built by the Chachapoyas culture, and consists of many buildings housed within a giant man-made “cliff” creating an almost impenetrable defensive barrier around the top of a hill. It is a wonderful spectacle. You will be collected from your hotel early to travel by road to the site, where you will have a guided tour of the site to learn about its history and its mystery. Following the visit to the site to will return to your hotel in Chachapoyas.
