Departure from the city of Cusco very early in the morning in one of our vehicles. We will cross interesting inter-Andean valleys and picturesque rural communities. We will visit Paucartambo, a picturesque colonial town and its interesting museum. Lunch on the route. We continue to the Cloud Forest, an area very rich in endemic species such as the Spectacled Bear and Gallito de las Rocas, orchids, bromeliads, ferns, etc. observing the nature and then continue until we reach our hostel Orquídeas de San Pedro where we will spend our first night comfortably installed.
Very early we will look for the interesting Cock of the Rocks, national bird of Peru that makes a unique ritual of courtship. After breakfast we continue to the town of Pilcopata *, then to the port of Atalaya, located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River, 700 meters above sea level from where we will begin the descent by boat to observe the enormous diversity of existing bird species, such as herons, vultures, cormorants, etc. until we reach our Private Reserve "Erika". We will walk through the interesting trails of this transitional point between high jungle and low jungle. Overnight at the hostel.
* 1 Optional free -Canotaje: From Pilcopata we will do 1 hour of canoeing (classes I and II) by the rivers Koñeq and / or high Madre de Dios. You enjoy the landscape and take advantage to refresh.
During the morning walk, the guide will search, show and explain the interesting diversity of wildlife in the surroundings. We will board our boat to cross the river and walk for 30 minutes along a path to observe and talk about interesting flora such as sensitive plants, heliconias, fruit trees, etc. until we reach the Machuwasi lagoon where we paddle in rustic canoes to observe birds like the primitive hoatzin, with luck caimans, monkeys and capybaras. Night walk around our lodge to observe insects and amphibians.
* 2 Optional free -Canopy tour: Our clients of Erika Lodge go from tree to tree and their aerial platforms using harnesses in horizontal cables with a system of lanes with which they glide at great speed on the treetops of this fabulous Amazon jungle until it descends in rappel from 15 meters high.
Very early we will board our boat to go to the Collpa, a wall of the river where the different species of parrots such as the blue-headed parrot, white-eyed parrot and possibly the Maracano macaw, among others go down every morning to extract clay necessary for their dietary balance . At the end of this daily activity we return to our hostel Erika to pack and sail by boat to the Port of Atalaya, where the bus will take us back. We had lunch en route arriving at night to Cusco.
